Venison Shank Recipes

Venison shanks are a great cut if you are in the mood for a slow cooked feast. They have a lot of sinew and silverskin that will clog up your meat grinder if you try to turn them into burger. So stop doing it! A braised venison shank transformed into one of the following recipes will change how you butcher a deer forever.

After years of cooking deer shanks, antelope shanks, and elk shanks, I've learned that they are just as amazingly delicious as the better-known lamb shank. Rich in Omega 3 and 6, and packed full of vitamins and minerals like zinc, selenium and collagen, shanks are definitely a cut you should be adding to your diet.

By following these tried and true recipes, you will learn how to cook venison shanks in a slow cooker or Dutch oven for a few hours so you and your family and friends can enjoy melt-in-your-mouth tender meat that falls from the bone. As a bonus, you'll also get to utilize the rich and sumptuous bone marrow hidden within those deer shanks that make an incredible broth or sauce.

Be sure and subscribe to the weekly newsletter and I'll send you a new wild game or fish recipe to your email inbox every Tuesday morning to help with your weekly meal prep plans.
