What Makes This Sausage Quiche Special?
Unlike a traditional quiche with a pastry crust, this one swaps in hash browns for an ultra-satisfying crispy base. The hash brown crust for quiche is buttery, seasoned just right, and pairs perfectly with the delicious flavor of deer sausage and cheddar cheese.
Ingredients
- 4 cups Southern Style O'Brien Hash Browns with Onions & Peppers, thawed
- 4 Tablespoons butter (½ stick)
- ½ teaspoon Tony's Creole Seasoning
- 8 ounces breakfast deer sausage
- 2 cups fresh baby spinach
- 4 eggs
- ½ cup heavy whipping cream
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- 2 Tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
- ½ cup cheddar cheese, shredded
How To Make This Hash Brown Crust Quiche
- Preheat oven to 450 degrees F.
- Prepare the hash brown potato crust: Place the hash browns in a large bowl. Melt the butter in a cast iron skillet, then pour the melted butter over the hash browns. Add Tony's Creole Seasoning and mix well.
- Press the hash browns onto the bottom and up the sides of a 9-inch quiche pan. Bake for 20 minutes.
- Cook the sausage: In the same skillet used for melting the butter, crumble the deer sausage and sauté over medium-high heat until cooked through, about 4 minutes. Add the spinach and cook for another minute. Set aside.
- Whisk the eggs: In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs, cream, salt, pepper, and parsley.
- Assemble the quiche: When the hash brown crust is ready, remove it from the oven and reduce the temperature to 375 degrees F. Pour the sausage and spinach mixture into the crust, sprinkle with cheddar cheese, and then pour the egg mixture over the top.
- Bake for about 25 minutes, until the center is golden brown and set. Let cool for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
