McDonald's most iconic sandwich meets a taco for these delicious Big Mac Tacos that are incredibly fast and easy to prepare.
Almost every recipe out there for Big Mac Smash Tacos uses ground beef. However, I used lean ground venison that steams to the tortilla and is done in just 90 seconds. It’s a fun ground venison recipe that will have your family begging for more! Whether you’re firing up a Blackstone griddle, using a cast iron skillet, or a nonstick pan on the stovetop, these Big Mac Tacos are always a hit.
½ The Calories Of A Big Mac
My wife and daughter are HUGE dill pickle fans and any recipe I can develop that incorporates them is always a big hit at our dinner table. I also appreciate that I get the same addicting delicious flavors as a McDonald's Big Mac with these Big Mac Tacos, but with about half the calories than I'd get from eating the sandwich from McDonald's.
How To Make Big Mac Tacos
1. Season the ground venison with salt and black pepper and portion it out into six balls that weigh about 2 ½ ounces each.
2. Place each ground venison ball onto a 6-inch flour tortilla and smash it down so the meat is flat, leaving about ½-inch of space on the outside edge of the tortilla. Brush each one with 2 teaspoons of olive oil.
3. Cook with the ground venison side down on an pan or griddle set to medium heat for about 90 seconds using a burger press or a spatula. I love using my Finex 8" Grill Press but it's a bit pricey. You could also use the Lodge Grill Press for less than half the price of the Finex version. You can make these tacos on a Blackstone griddleduring the weekend while camping and cook them all at once, or you can cook them in a cast iron skillet or a nonstick pan on your stovetop at home on a busy weeknight.
4. Flip the tortilla and immediately top the crispy cooked venison with a slice of cheese and let it cook for another 30 seconds to warm the other side of the tortilla, then transfer to a rimmed baking sheet. If using a skillet or pan, repeat the process until all of the Big Mac Tacos are cooked.
5. Top each Big Mac Taco with shredded lettuce and hamburger pickles and a little homemade Big Mac sauce.
How to Make Big Mac Sauce
This is such a simple recipe to throw together in as little time as it takes to cook a Big Mac Taco. Just measure out the different ingredients into a small mixing bowl and stir to combine. You can use it right away or make it in advance, cover, and store in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
Can I Substitute Ground Beef For Ground Venison?
I know that some of you who plan to make this Big Mac Taco recipe may not have access to ground venison and will need to use ground beef instead. And you can absolutely do that! However, I highly recommend you asking that relative or neighbor who is an avid deer hunter or elk hunter if they would be willing to share a package of ground venison with you so you can try it with these Big Mac Tacos.
Is venison good for you? Yes! Absolutely! There are plenty of great health benefits when it comes to eating venison. Venison is the perfect protein, especially for people with cardiovascular disease. Venison is an extremely lean meat, low in fat and saturated fat, high in protein and packed with vitamins and minerals. This versatile game meat is full of flavor and can be used in a variety of recipes. When it comes to venison, you can roast it, stew it, stir fry it, or use ground venison for a Bolognese, burgers or meatballs.
